What We Believe

We believe in a life transformed by faith in Jesus Christ, empowered by the Holy Spirit, and committed to loving God, loving people, and making disciples of all nations. - Pastor Cedrick Carte

Core Beliefs

The following are the core beliefs of Life Elevation Church—Avondale, based on the foundational truths taught in the Bible. Our teaching and ministry are rooted in and flow from these biblical truths.

The Trinity

We believe in one true and living God. He who is everlasting, ever-present, infinitely powerful, wise, and good. He is the maker and preserver of all things, visible and invisible. He is God in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus is the Word, the Son of God, who was present  in the beginning with God.  He was given to the world as the only begotten Son of God, born of the Virgin Mary. On earth, He possessed two natures—He was entirely man and fully God, together in one person. He suffered, was crucified, He died, and was buried. He descended into Hades, baring the sin of mankind. On the third day, He rose from the dead for the remission of our sins for all who would believe and call upon His name for salvation.

The Holy Spirit

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the third person of  the Holy God.
Holy Spirit is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus, and also lives within every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides believers with power for living, understanding scripture, operating in spiritual gifts and guidance in doing what is right.

The Bible

We believe the Bible is the Word of the Living God.  It was written by men under the guidance of the Holy Spirit and is free from error. The Bible is sacred truth used to guide us in action and belief.

The Creation

The Creation and Fall of Mankind: We believe that man is a created being, made in the likeness and image of God, but through Adam’s transgression and fall, sin came into the world. Therefore, all men are separated from God for all eternity by their sinful deeds

Salvation

The Gift of Salvation: We believe Jesus Christ, the Son of God, gave His life and shed His blood to cleanse man from sin – to redeem and restore man back to God. Salvation is a gift from God to man and is only available through faith in Jesus Christ. Only by believing in Jesus Christ as God’s final sacrifice can man be saved from sin and an eternity in Hell.

Baptism

Water is not only a sign of repentance but also a sign of regeneration and re-birth into the Church where forgiveness, faith and salvation are visibly signed and sealed.

Baptism of the Holy Spirit

We believe the baptism of the Holy Spirit is an endowment of power available to every Christian at or following conversion. Through the laying on of hands spiritual gifts may be manifest including, but not limited to, prophecy and tongues.

The Lord'd Supper

is a sign of our redemption by Christ’s death as long as the recipient does so worthily and with faith. We partake of the Bread and Cup not only as symbols, but spiritually partake of the Body and Blood of Christ. Through the Lord’s Supper we grow closer in our union within the Church and with Jesus Christ

The Church

We believe that the Body of Christ is the Church. It is the instrument and focus of God’s purposes on the earth, where the believer is unified and uplifted with other Brothers and Sisters in Christ. Every believer should actively participate in a local expression of the universal Church and be committed to the promotion of the Word of God
